Reserve campsite 6 months in advance for peak season.

Flying in? Airport – Mammoth Airport (15 min.) offers limited and pricey service. Reno is a better bet but several hours away.

~Location: 13 miles south of Mammoth or ½ hour north of Bishop. Take the TOM’S PLACE exit to the west of highway #395 and from that point you are on a paved 10 mile stretch of road that ultimately dead ends in the Mosquito Flats Trailhead parking lot.

 ~Ranger Station: from the south, White Mountain Ranger Station 798 N. Main St. Bishop, CA 93514 Phone # (760) 873-2500 *On the east side of the street

From the north, Mono Basin Visitor Center and Ranger Station, just north of Lee Vining on the Mono Lake/east side.

 ~Nearest Town and Amenities: Bishop (1/2 hour) to the south/Mammoth (15 min) to the north. Both towns have restaurants, markets etc. Bishop is home to the famous Schat’s Bakery.

 ~Campground/s: Yes. Multiple campgrounds and multiple sites but they book out. Call as early as 6 months in advance to reserve. Some dispersed/first come/first serve camping is available in the area.

 ~Permits: None unless you are headed into the backcountry via a trail in Rock Creek.

 ~Suggestions: There are cabins available through a private resort if tent camping is not your thing.
